Op-Ed: Minor BRF Participation in The Queen's Diamond Jubilee

I've been thinking about this a lot lately, and a few recent articles about Princess Beatrice of York wanting to be a bigger part of her grandmother's big celebrations and a part of the "firm" of the family plus a few other things make me want to write something about it.

The Diamond Jubilee was a chance to let the monarchy shine and to celebrate Queen Elizabeth's milestone. It's not every day that your grandmother makes such a fabulous milestone!

It was decided late last year that the following royals would visit the following commonwealth countries:

-Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip, The Duke of Edinburgh are touring around various parts of the United Kingdom from March until July.

-Prince Charles & Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall  are all set to visit Australia, Canada, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.

-The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will head to Malaysia, Singapore, the Solomon Islands and Tuvalu.

-Prince Harry is wrapping up his Royal Tour to Belize, Jamaica and the Bahamas with a stop over to Brazil to promote the London 2012 Olympics this week.

-The Duke of York will head to India.

-The Princess Royal will head to Mozambique and Zambia.

-The Earl and Countess of Wessex recently wrapped up their tour to the West Indies and Gibraltar.

-The Duke of Gloucester will go to the British Virgin Islands and Malta.

-The Duke of Kent will head to The Falkland Islands and Uganda.

In my opinion, this would be a fabulous chance for the "minor royals"-The York daughters, The Wessexes, Princess Anne & her commoner children, Princess Margaret's family, The Kents, The Gloucester etc to step up and shine rather than send the major royals-their time to shine will come.

For example, this week: I was looking for information on The Earl and Countess of Wessex's tour to the West Indies and Gibraltar, the day Prince Harry started his tour....and found only information on Prince Harry's tour. LAME. Now, if all of the minor royals were sent on the tours, the media coverage of the tours would be equal. That or they should have spread the tours out more so they didn't overlap!

But that's just my opinion.
