Royal Profile:Countess Stéphanie de Lannoy

After announcing her engagement on Thursday (and making it official on Friday with a reception at the Grand Ducal Palace), I thought you might be interested in knowing more about our latest Royal Bride to be....

Countess Stéphanie de Lannoy was born 18 February 1984, the daughter of Count Philippe de Lannoy and Alix della Faille de Leverghem. She grew up with seven older siblings (four brothers, and three sisters) on the family's estate, Château d'Anvaing in Ronse, East Flanders, Belgium.

For her education, the Countess has resided in various parts of the world, including Belgium, France, Germany and Russia. She attended school Sancta Maria de Ronse and Institut de la Vierge Fidèle in Belgium, Collège Saint-Odile in France, Russian Literature and langugae classes in Moscow, Russia, and majored in German Philology at Louvain-la-Neuve, in Belgium. She also obtained a Masters degree in Berlin, Germany. During her Masters she interned at L'Agence Wallone à l'Exportation in Berlin, Germany.

Like her future husband, she is fluent in several languages, including French, English, German and Russian. She also is an avid sportswoman, with interests in swimming and skiing. She also enjoys music and foreign languages. She plays the violin.

Upon her marriage, she will become Stéphanie, Hereditary Grand Duchess of Luxembourg, and likely eventually, Grand Duchess Stéphanie of Luxembourg.

She is the paternal granddaughter of Count Paul & Princess Beatrice de Ligne, making her a distant cousin of the Princely House of Ligne, Belgium Royal and former Brazilian Royal Families (I haven't found the exact connection yet, so if anyone has it, Please let me know. Thanks. @TheRoyalFanzine on Twitter or on Tumblr. As of right now, I can say that she is a distant cousin on all ends.).

She and the Hereditary Grand Duke have been dating for close to two years. It has been speculated for awhile that they would announce their engagement soon.
