Editor's Picks: 2013 Predictions?

Belgium:
No idea-Thoughts?

Denmark:No idea-Thoughts?

German:

HANOVER:
  • Speculation is over, and a Divorce announcement for E-A & Caro
  • Possible Engagement for E-A Jr or Christian
  • Alexandra (13) converts from Protestant to Catholic, renouncing her rights to the British Throne as the new law hasn't gone into effect yet, but it doesn't really matter or is a big controversy because she's been attending a catholic school anyway in Monaco and is like 420th in line.
PRUSSIA:
  • Birth of the twins for Sophie & Georg Fredrich, likely boys (60-40 chance…I just did the math based on DNA…27/47 of the last births in the Prussian Royals have been male, while 20/47 have been female), and sometime in February 2013. Possible Godparents: one of the von Schaumburg-Lippe royals (several attended their wedding), Maybe Lord or Lady Nicholas Windsor?, maybe one of the witnesses from their wedding (Princess Sophie of Baden, Dr Stephanie Bermig, Dr Prince Johann Georg of Hohenzollern, Nicolai Nowak, Archduchess Katharina of Austria-Este, Duke Konstantin of Oldenburg)?, maybe Archduke Martin of Austria-Este (his sons Emmanuel & Bartholomeus were in the wedding) or perhaps Prince Friedrich zu Wied or Isabelle von Isenberg (their daughter was in G & S Wedding & Isabelle is Sophie's sister). Possible name (based on popular/traditional names from the von Isenberg and von Preußen families):Ferninand Friedrich Franz Prinz von Preußen and ?
Jordan:

  • Wedding of Princess Iman

Luxembourg:
  • Baby announcement from the Hereditary Grand Ducal Couple late in the year
  • Wedding for Prince Felix to Claire Lademacher in Germany in August or September

Liechtenstein:

No idea-Thoughts?

Monaco:
  • Break off of the “engagement” of Andrea and Tatiana (not that they are engaged anyway. The whole thing still looks sketchy to me). A nasty court battle for their dog, Daphne ensues. You know, kinda like the one played out here
  • Announcement of the REAL engagement: Pierre and Beatrice
  • Announcement of official divorce of Princess Caro & Ernest
  • Baby announcement in September for Albert & Charlene (likely: a boy, as the chances are 27/43 of the last 19 generations have been male on Prince Pierre's side, where the gene would come from. But it still could go either way. Likely name? Charles Rainier Michael Albert or for a girl either Marie Elisabeth Grace or Louise Marguriete Lynette. Godparents? Someone from the Olympic world, one of Albie's sisters, Princess Charlene's mother &/or one of her brothers)
  • More Pauline sightings (possibly another patronage for her, elephant related?), and more of Princess Alexandra on the ice (possible ice-related patronage and/or participation in the 2012 Euro Youth Olympic Festival in rep for Monaco in Romania in February, from the 17-21st (AKA her February break from FANB))
  • A change in legislation announcement: Camille & Jazmin are in line for the throne (that was a joke...wishful thinking!)

The Netherlands:
  • Prince Friso is either allowed to die or wakes up. I'm opting for option 2 given the recent events of him waking briefly, smiling and slipping back into it. {Source}
  • Possible Baby # 4 for Maxima & Williem-Alexander. Likely another girl....an A name....if the rumors are true....
Norway:

No idea....thoughts? Go.

Spain:
  • Juan Carlos...abdication speculations?
  • Possible divorce for Infanta Cristina?

Sweden:
  • Wedding for Princess Madeleine in June
  • Princess Madeleine and her new hubby move back to Sweden by the end of the year
  • Engagement for Prince Carl Philip?
  • Second pregnancy for CP Victoria & Prince Daniel?
United Kingdom:
  • Engagement announcements in April-ish from Bea & Eugenie. Bea will marry Dave 1st, late summer, after her birthday & birth of baby Cambridge. Eugenie will marry in the fall.
  • Birth of Cambridge baby in July/August. (would it be ironic if it was born on Zara Philips's anniversary or Prince William's birthday or the Queen's or Diana's?)Possible gender: boy (that gene comes from the male line, and based on my calculations, it's a 38/68 chance for a boy, or 56% likely). Possible names: Philip Charles Michael William? And for a girl: Victoria Carole Elizabeth Diana?
  • Possible late 2013 Australia-NZ tour for The Duke & Duchess of Cambridge (and possibly Baby Cambridge)

Royal Profile:Princess Vittoria of Savoy

Princess Vittoria Cristina Adelaide Chiara Maria of Savoy is the elder of the two biological children of Emanuele Filiberto, Prince of Venice and Piedmont & his wife,  French actress Clotilde Courau, and was born 29 December 2003 in Geneva, Switzerland. She is a great-grandchild of the last King of Italy and the granddaughter of the present pretender to the throne,  Vittorio Emanuele, Prince of Naples, and his wife Marina. She also has two adopted brothers who were adopted from Kenya in January 2011, Alan and Moses, and a sister named Luisa, who was born in 2006.

I imagine the family is living a relatively normal life in either France or Switzerland, where she likely goes to school. I also imagine that with a French mother and Italian father, she speaks at least both French and Italian.

Royal Profile: Savannah Anne Kathleen Philips

Savannah Anne Kathleen Philips was born the elder of two children to Peter & Autumn Philips on 29 December 2010, thus making her the 1st grandchild of Princess Anne, The Princess Royal, and great-grandchild of Queen Elizabeth & Prince Philip.

According to The Daily Mail (aka the most reliable source ever...*sense sarcasm*), her christening happened in late April 2011 at the Church of the Holy Cross, near Granny Anne's estate. There was no announcement as to who were selected as her godparents. However, in addition to her parents, her aunt and future uncle Zara and Mike were there, along with her great-grandparents and numerous members of the British Royal Family {Source}.

Because she is so young and far down on the ranks for the throne (As of 2012, she is presently at 12th after three great-uncles, six 1st cousins 1x removed,  her grandmother, and her father), Savanah isn't often seen in the public eye. The biggest event we probably saw her at last was when she was with her mother, Autumn, and Catherine, The Duchess of Cambridge and The Cambridge's dog Lupo at  The Tusk Charity Polo Match At Beaufort Polo Club in June 2012 {Photo}. At her birth, there were no public photos released.

Royal Profile: HRH Princess Alexandra of Kent, The Hon. Lady Ogilvy

Alexandra Helen Elizabeth Olga Christabel Windsor was born Princess Alexandra Helen Elizabeth Olga Christabel of Kent, the daughter of Prince George, The Duke of Kent & Princess Mariana of Greece & Denmark on 25 December 1936.

When she was born, she was 6th in line for the throne after her uncle, two 1st cousins Princess Elizabeth of York (Now Queen Elizabeth II) & Princess Margaret of York; her uncle, The Duke of Gloucester, her father and one brother. Presently, Princess Alexandra is 41st in line for the throne.

She was batized at Buckingham Palace's private chapel in February 1937. Her godparents were:
  • King George IV (uncle)
  • Queen Elizabeth (aunt)
  • Queen Maud of Norway (grandaunt)
  • Princess Nicholas of Greece & Denmark (Elena, maternal grandmother)
  • Princess Olga of Yugoslavia (maternal aunt)
  • The Princess Beatrice (paternal great-grandaunt)
  • Alexander Augustus Frederick William Alfred George Cambridge, 1st Earl of Athlone (paternal granduncle)
  • Count Karl Theodor of Toerring-Jettenbach (maternal uncle by marriage)
She was named for:

Alexandra: for her great-grandmother Queen Alexandra
Helen: for her godmother Elena (who was known as Helen)
Elizabeth: for her godmother Queen Elizabeth
Olga: for her godmother Olga
Christabel:  she was born on Christmas Day like her aunt Princess Alice, The Duchess of Gloucester

She primarily grew up in the family's country house in Buckinghamshire, where her brother the present Duke of Kent still resides today. During WWII, she lived with her grandmother Queen Mary at Badminton. As a child, she was the 1st British Princess to attend an "ordinary" (aka fee paying) school, The Heathefeild School, Ascot.

Her father died when she was only 5 1/2 in an airplane crash while serving in the Royal Air Force of WWII.

She served as a bridesmaid several times in her young life. She was a bridesmaid for the 1st time at at the age of 10 to her paternal 1st cousin Princess Elizabeth of York to her maternal 1st cousin 1x removed Philip Mountbatten. The second time she served as a bridesmaid was at the age of 26, for her second cousin, Princess Sophia of Greece & Denmark to her marriage to Infante Juan Carlos of Spain.

She married The Hon. Angus James Bruce Ogilvy at Westminister Abbey on 24 April 1963, in a ceremony that was attended by the entire Royal Family and broadcast world live on television to an estimated audience of 200 million. Because her husband declined her cousin's offer of an earldom, her children are not entitled to any title or style. Together they have a son and daughter, and two granddaughters and two grandsons, none of whom carry out royal duties on behalf of the Queen:

  1. Mister James Ogilvy (1964)
    1. Miss Flora Alexandra Ogilvy (1994)
    2. Master Alexander Charles Ogilvy (1996)
  2. Miss Marina Victoria Alexandra Ogilvy (1966)
    1. Miss Zenouska May Mowatt (1990)
    2. Mister Christian Alexander Mowatt (1993)

Since the late 1950s, she has carried out extensive royal engagements on behalf and supporting of her cousin, The Queen, carrying out roughly 120 engagements per a year, she is one of the most active members of the Royal Family.

She was only 15 years old when Princess Elizabeth became Queen Elizabeth, and was asked to undertake numerous royal duties. She has done numerous royal tours abroad. Her first tour abroad was to Australia in 1959. She returned to Australia on a private holiday in 1967, but also carried out engagements in Canberra and Melbourne while there. She represented her cousin in October 1960’s Nigeria independence from the UK, and opened the parilement there. Other overseas tours that the Princess has done were: Canada, Italy, Oman, Hungary, Norway, Thailan, Gibraltar & The Falkland Islands.

She served as Chancellor of Lancaster University from 1964-2005. She holds honorary degrees or fellowships from Lancaster University (Music, 2005), honorary fellowships with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, of the Royal College of Anaesthetists, the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, and the Royal College of Physicians. She is also the President of Alexandra Rose Day, which was founded in honour of her great-grandmother, Alexandra of Denmark. She has recently given up the patronage of The Royal School, Hampstead, which was founded in 1855.

She is a member of the Civil list, and received receives £225,000 per year to cover the cost of official expenses; although like the other members of the Royal Family (except the Duke of Edinburgh) the Queen repays this amount to theTreasury. She lives at Thatched House Lodge in Richmond, London a Crown property purchased on a 150-year lease from the Crown Estate Commissioners by Sir Angus Ogilvy after their wedding in 1963. She also has use of a grace-and-favour apartment at St James's Palace in London.

She is the patron of the Blackie Foundation Trust, English National Opera, London Philharmonic Choir, the not-for-profit housing association Anchor, the charity Independent Age, St Christopher's Hospice in Sydenham, England, Core a National charity in London England dedicated to funding research into digestive diseases and also publishes information leaflets on the most common diseases of the gut and liver, the Nature in Art Trust and London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA), and President of WWF-UK. She has been the patron of the Royal Alexandra Hospital for Sick Children in Brighton since 1954. She is also the Royal Patron of Children and Families Across Borders, a charity dedicated to reuniting children who have been separated from their families. During the American occupation of Japan, he was tutored in English and Western manners. He briefly studied Poliical Science at Gakushuin University, but never received a degree.

Like most "normal people", the Emperor has had a few health scares in his life time. In January 2003, he underwent treatment for prostate cancer. In 2011, he suffered pneumonia and was admitted to the hospital. In 2012, he underwent heart bypass surgery.
