Royal Profile: HIRH Prince Lorenz of Belgium, Archduke of Austria-Este

 HIRH Prince Lorenz of Belgium, Archduke of Austria-Este  was born 15 December 1955, the second child of HRH Arch-Duke Robert d'Autriche-Este and of HRH Princesse Margherite de Savoie-Aoste.

He attended his secondary education in France. After recieving his high school diploma, he studied at the University of St. Gallen (Switzerland) and Innsbruck (Austria), earning a degree in Economics and Social Sciences.

On 22 September 1984, he married Princess Astrid, and they set up a home in Switzerland, from 1984-1993. Then they returned with their children to Belgium. Their five children are:



He works full time in the banking industry, as well as takes part in activities of the Royal Family on a regular basis. He often attends ceremonies and official engagements in the company of his wife. He has served as honorary president of the Council of the Association Royale des Demeures Historiques de Belgique since 2004, and is a patron of Europae Thesauri, and served as deputy chairman of the Société des Amis of the Almanach de Gotha.
