Royal Profile: HRH Crown Prince Vajiralongkorn of Thailand

Crown Prince Vajiralongkorn of Thailand was born 28 July 1952, the only son of Bhumibol Adulyadej, the King of Thailand, and Queen Sirikit. He is the current Crown Prince of Thailand and heir apparent to the throne.

He spent his early education at schools in Thailand before attending private secondary schools in the United Kingdom and Australia including King's Mead School, Seaford and Millfield School, Somerset and The King's School, Sydney. He then attended the Royal Military College in Australia. He also completed an arts degree at Sukhothai Thammatirat University in Bangkok.
He was created the Crown Prince of Thailand after he turned 20 years old in 1972.

He later graduated from the Royal Military College, Duntroon in Canberra, Australia. An officer in the Thai military, he trained with the Australian, British and United States armed services. He is a qualified military pilot and helicopter pilot. He took an active part in military operations against the Communist Party of Thailand during the 1970s, and also led combat operations against a Vietnamese military incursion across the border from Cambodia.  Since 1975, he has served as a career officer in the Royal Thai Army. He served as a staff officer in the Directorate of Army Intelligence, and in 1978 he became head of the King's Own Bodyguard Battalion. In that year, however, he interrupted his military career to be ordained for a season as a Buddhist monk, as is customary for all Thai Buddhist males.

On 3 January 1977 Vajiralongkorn married Princess Soamsavali Kitiyakara (born 1957), a first cousin on his mother's side. They had one daughter:
  • Princess Bajrakitiyabha ( 1978).
They were divorced in 1993 after being separated for several years. He married Mom Sujarinee Mahidol na Ayudhaya in February 1994. Together, they have three sons and one daughter:
  • HRH Prince Juthavachara Mahidol  (1979)
  • HSH Prince Vacharaesorn Mahidol ( 1981)
  • HSH Prince Chakriwat Mahidol (1983)
  • HSH Prince Vacharaesorn Mahidol (1985)
  • HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana (1987)
She fled to England with the children in 1996, after a fight with her husband. He accused her of committing  adultery with a 60 year old air marshall.  The prince abducted their daughter and brought her back to Thailand to live with him. Their daughter was later elevated to the rank of Princess whilst Sucharini and her sons were stripped of their diplomatic passports. She and her sons later moved to the United States. As of 2007, Sujarinee is known as Sujarinee Vivacharawongse. The Prince married a third time in 2001, to Srirasmi Akharaphongpreecha. Together, they have one son:
  • HRH Prince Dipangkorn Rasmijoti (2007)

Royal Profile: HSH Princess Georgina of Liechtenstein

Princess Georgina Maximiliana Tatiana Maria of Liechtenstein was born 23 July 2005 in Vienna, Austria, the middle child and only daughter of Prince Constantin Ferdinand Maria of Liechtenstein and his wife, Princess Marie. She has one older brother and one younger one-Prince Moritz Emanuel Maria of Liechtenstein and Prince Benedikt Ferdinand Hubertus Maria  of Liechtenstein. Her brother Prince Moritz was born in New York, NY USA and her younger brother was also born in Vienna, like she was.

She is the 4th granddaughter (and 10th grandchild overall) of Prince Hans-Adam II and his wife, Princess Marie.

Because Liechtenstein is ruled under Agnatic primogeniture law, meaning male-only succession, Princess Georgina is not line line for the throne. If for some reason the laws were to change, she would be no higher than 7th after her father today.

Royal Profile: HRH Crown Prince Haakon of Norway

Crown Prince Haakon of Norway was born 20 July 1973, the only son of then Crown Prince Harald and the Crown Princess Sojna. He has one elder sister, Princess Martha Louise.

The future King of Norway attended the Norwegian Naval Academy, graduating in 1995. The Prince also attended University of Califorina, Berkley, where he recieved a BA in Political Science in 1999. After finishing his education, he participated in the UN's General Assemby as a third delegate. In 2001, he followed the Foreign Ministry’s trainee programme for diplomats, and completed his education in 2003 at the London School of Economics and Political Science, where he was awarded an MA in development studies, specializing in international trade and Africa.

He is the patron of a number of organisations, including the Norwegian International Film Festival, the Norwegian Association against Substance Abuse and the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra.

In 2003, Crown Prince Haakon was appointed Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) with a particular focus on the UN Millennium Development Goals and the effort to cut global poverty in half by 2015. In this capacity he has traveled to Tanzania, Cambodia, Sierra Leone, Guatemala, Burundi, Mongolia and Botswana.

Crown Prince Haakon was an active member of Young Global Leaders (YGL) from its launch in 2005 until autumn 2010, a forum under the auspices of the World Economic Forum. In 2006, The Crown Prince founded the Global Dignity initiative with two other YGL members.

As for his personal life, he married Miss Mette-Marit Tjessem Høiby in Oslo Cathedral on 25 August 2001. Mette-Marit has one biological son from a previous relationship, Marius Borg Høiby, but he spends the majority of his time with the Crown Princely Family, so it's logical that the future king would consider him like a son-he is even listed as a member of the family of the official website of the Royal Family, biography and all! Together, The Crown Prince and Princess have two biological children:
  1. Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway (2004)
  2. Prince Sverre Magnus of Norway (2005)

It is said that she speaks English with her father and German-born elder half-brothers, German with her nanny, and French with everyone else.

She has a close friend, who is also her second cousin (her mother is cousins with the girl's namesake and grandmother), Christine Knecht de Massy. The pair can often be seen paling with one another at events involving the whole family, whether it be reading at her uncle's wedding (Christine is the redhead in Green), and attending the 2011 Monaco Global Champions Tour (Princess Alexandra has her back to the camera, with the ponytail). The dynamic duo can also be seen promoting their school's (Christine is said to be a year behind Princess Alexandra at L'IFANB) mathematics and science programs throughout the school and local community.

She is presently 5th in line for the Monégasque throne, after her sister Charlotte. Since she was not raised Catholic, she is 400+ in line for the throne of Great Britain after her two eldest brothers. She is the greatx6 granddaughter of King George III, through King George III's son, Prince Ernest August I of Hanover. In her lineage, she is somehow related to every current reigning monarch.

For the most part, she has led a normal childhood of going to school, hanging with friends, going to the beach with her siblings, and the occasional ice skating competitions. With the few exceptions of course, having to appear with the family on Monaco's national day (2002, 2004, 2006, 2007), at the circus festival (2003, 2008, 2012), the annual Palace Christmas Party (2009), the annual show jumping competition (2010, 2012), the annual St. Devote Ceremony (2012)and her uncle's 2005 enthronement, and 2011 wedding ceremonies. Plus the occasional intrusion of the paparazzi when walking the streets with her mother!

He attended schools mostly in England, where he resided with his mother. He attended Malvern College, until 2001. In 2001, it was rumored that he was pulled from the school after allegedly getting involved with the wrong crowd and getting caught smoking pot. It is unknown where he completed his education, this royal blogger's therory is that he was sent to live with his father outside of Paris to attend the International School of Paris (of which was also being attended by his stepbrother Andrea) for the following semester before being sent to Germany to finish school at the International School of Germany in 2002. He went on to attend New York University, graduating in 2006.

In 2006, he returned to London, where he spent several years working at various banks. In 2004, he was signed over the Hanoverian estates by his father. After the sale of his nearby Calenberg manor house in 2010, the young prince is now using the Princely Palace (Fürstenhaus) at Herrenhausen in Hanover as his private residence when in Germany.

As a stepson of a Princess of Monaco, he occasionally attends events in Monaco. In 2005, he and his brother represented their father at the funeral of their step-grandfather, as their father was hospitalized with pancreatitis at the time; as well as attended the enthronement ceremony of their step-uncle in 2006, and  their step-uncle's 2011 wedding ceremony. He attended his younger sister's ice skating competition in March 2011 with his stepmother.

He has one younger sister, Doña Victoria Federica de Todos los Santos de Marichalar y de Borbón. He is in 5th line for the Spanish throne after his mother. On April 9, 2012 Felipe, while he was on a farm of his father's family in Garray (Soria), accidentally shot himself himself in his left foot. His father had to declare to the Civil Guard because Spanish law does not permit to use firearms to people under 14.The judge dismissed the case against Don Jaime de Marichalar, considering it not negligence but a misdemeanor.

Royal Profile: HRH Camilla, The Duchess of Cornwall

Camilla Rosemary, The Duchess of Cornwall was born 17 July 1947, the eldest child and first daughter of Major Bruce Shand and his wife, The Hon. Rosalind Cubitt.

At the age of 5, she began her education at Dumbrells School. At the age of 10, she attended fashionable Queen's Gate School, where she left with one O-level. At the age of 16, she attended the Mon Fertile finishing school in Switzerland and studied at theInstitut Britannique in Paris.  Following her education, she made her London debut as a debutante in 1965.

When she began in the workforce, she worked as a part-time secretary, before taking a job at the decorating firm of Sybil Colefax and John Fower. During this time, she became an avid horsewoman, and participated in fox hunting until it was banned.

On 4 July 1973, 26-year old Camilla married 34-year old Andrew Parker Bowles at the Guards Chapel, Wellington Barracks, London. Their bridesmaids included Parker Bowles' goddaughter Lady Emma Herbert. The wedding was attended by almost 800 guests including several members of the British Royal Family.
They resided in Wiltshire, where they raised their two children, Thomas and Laura. After her affair with The Prince of Wales became public knowledge, they divorced, but remained fairly cordial with one another. Camilla even attended the memorial service for Andrew's second wife, Rosemary Pitman who died of cancer in 2010.
Her relationship with the Prince of Wales began in the 1970s, after she was introduced to him through one of his former girlfriends. Shortly after, she became one of the numerous girlfriends of Charles, and he was said to have wanted to marry her, Camilla was seen by royal courtiers as an unsuitable match for the future king. After this, their relationship dissolved, but they remained friends. Their relationship rekindled in the 1980s, while they were both married to others with children. After their affair became public in 1995, she became his unofficial companion at several events over the next few years.   On 10 February 2005, it was announced by Clarence House that Camilla and the Prince of Wales were engaged. The marriage was to have been on 8 April of that year, and was to take place in a civil ceremony at Windsor Castle, with a subsequent religious blessing at St George's Chapel.

The Duchess of Cornwall is the Patron of The Royal School, Hampstead, an independent girls' school, Patron of Animal Care Trust (Under the umbrella of the Royal Veterinary College), Patron of The Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists, Patron of Unicorn Theatre for Children, Patron of Cornwall Community Foundation, Patron of Wiltshire Bobby van Trust, Patron of Youth Action Wiltshire, Patron of New Queen's Hall Orchestra, Patron of St John's Smith Square, Patron of London Chamber Orchestra, Patron of Georgian Theatre Royal, Richmond (A Joint Patron with the Prince of Wales), President of Scotland's Gardens Scheme, President of National Osteoporosis Society (First Charity to be given the role), Patron of The Cornish Air Ambulance Service, Patron of Girl's Friendly Society, Patron of The National Literacy Trust, Patron of Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Patron of Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases, Patron of Plumpton College Charitable Foundation, as well as President or Patron of a number of other charities, as detailed below.

She is the honorary Commodore-in-Chief of the Royal Navy Medical Service. In this role she visited the training-ship HMS Excellent in January 2012, to award medals to naval medical teams returning from service in Afghanistan. In March 2012, the Duchess became the Patron of The Big Jubilee Lunch (BJL), in which communities across the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth held lunches including street parties, garden gatherings and picnics on 3 June 2012, as part of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

Because the title 'Princess of Wales' became strongly associated with the previous holder of that title, the late Diana, Princess of Wales, Camilla has adopted the feminine form of her husband's highest-ranking subsidiary title, Duke of Cornwall.  Unless any specific Act of Parliament is passed by the Parliament of the United Kingdom (and other Commonwealth States) to the contrary, should Prince Charles become King, she can assume by courtesy the style of "Queen Camilla".  However, continued controversy about her ascendence raised the continuing likelihood that she might retain a morganatic style, albeit by courtesy—she would always be entitled to be acknowledged with the rank and style of her husband.  Clarence House stated that when Charles becomes King, Camilla will adopt the unprecedented style of Princess Consort, similar to the style of Prince Albert. This is not the same usage as her father-in-law, The Duke of Edinburgh, who does not hold the title of Prince Consort (although as a prince and a consort, he is the Queen's Prince consort).

Royal Profile: Camille Marie Kelly Gottlieb

Camille Marie Kelly Gottlieb was born on 15 July 1998 in Monaco, the third child and second daughter of Princess Stephanie of Monaco and supposedly the only child of former palace body guard, Jean-Raymond Gottlieb-Princess Stephanie has never made who her father is public information. From her mother, she has two half-siblings,  Louis and Pauline Ducruet.

She is considered one of the "lucky" ones of the royal illegitimate children. She is fully acknowledged by her mother, a princess, and is rarely hidden from family events (her uncle Albert's enthronement, the circus festivals of 2009, 2010, 2011 & 2012, and her uncle's civil and religious wedding ceremonies).

Her name is Camille Marie Kelly Gottlieb.
Camille-likely a name her mother liked, however it could also be speculated that it is after Prince Honoré Camille Léonor Grimaldi de Goyon de Matignon
Marie-likely, a name Princess Stephanie liked, but it could also be speculated that the name could be after her great-grandmother, Marie Juliette Louvet. Marie is a common name, too, in general and in the Grimaldi family. Camille's cousin Charlotte is Charlotte Marie Pomeline Casiraghi.
Kelly-in honor of her late grandmother, Grace Patricia Kelly.

While she was young, her mother picked up her, and her older half-siblings, Louis and Pauline Ducruet, and whisked them off to travel with the circus from 2001 to early 2004. It was during these years that Camille was home-schooled by Princess Stephanie and she discovered an interest in gymnastics and theatre.

Upon their return to Monaco in 2004, she continued to attend local public schools for elementary and middle schools. However, it has been recently discovered, perhaps because of her media-shy father or the fact that numerous of her cousins (Princess Alexandra, Christine, Alexia, Vittoria and Andrea Knecht) attend the school as well, she has been enrolled in Lycée François d’Assise Nicolas Barré.

As a youngster, due to her media shy father, she was often registered as Camille Marie Kelly Grimaldi.

Illegimate children are nothing new to Monaco's Princely courts. She is preceded by her great-grandmother Princess Charlotte of Monaco, three of her mother's paternal cousins (Elisabeth-Anne, Christian-Louis and Christine-Alix), two older half siblings, and 5 cousins. The Catholic Church did not consider her older Casiraghi cousins illegitimate until 1992 due to her mother's previous marriage to Phillipe Junot not being annulled. However, once Princess Caroline's marriage to Junot was annulled after the death of Stefano Casiraghi (father of Princess Caroline's older children) in 1992. Her uncle Prince Albert II of Monaco’s two older children, Jazmin Grace Grimaldi and Alexandre Coste, are also illegitimate. Her older maternal half-siblings, Louis and Pauline Ducruet, were both born prior to the marriage of their parents, were legitimized after the marriage in 1995. Her mother's cousins were, like her older brother and sister, legitimatized by marriage in 1951 (however, with the change of succession laws of 2002, the two surviving de Massy children lost their claims to the throne with the death of Prince Rainier in 2005).Her great-grandmother, Princess Charlotte was the only child of Prince Louis II and Marie Juliette Louvet, and had been adopted later by Prince Louis II, placing her in line for the throne of Monaco. However, in the case of Camille, Jazmin and Alexandre, due to the 2002 changes of the constitution of Monaco it is not possible for Princess Stephanie to adopt her (or for Prince Albert to adopt Jazmin or Alexandre) in order to place them in line for the throne. The only way Camille would be in line for the throne is that if her father was confirmed to be Jean-Raymond Gottlieb and he and Princess Stephanie were to marry. If that were to happen, Camille would be placed in line after her older sister, Pauline, in the 9th position for the throne. However, due to the passage of time and the fact that Princess Stephanie and Jean-Raymond broke up many years ago, this does not seem likely.

Royal Profile: Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden

Crown Princess Victoria Ingrid Alice Désirée of Sweden, Duchess of Västergötland was born 14 July 1977, and is the eldest and oldest daughter of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia. She has two younger siblings-Prince Carl Phillip (1979), and Princess Madeline (1982).

She was baptised at the Palace Church on 27 September 1977 and given the names Victoria Ingrid Alice Désirée. Her godparents are King Harald V of Norway, her maternal uncle, Ralf Sommerlath, Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, and her aunt Princess Désirée, Baroness Silfverschiöld. She was named in honor of various relatives- Her first name comes primarily from her great-great-grandmother, Victoria of Baden, the queen-consort of Sweden as wife of King Gustaf V. The same name also glorifies her (twice-over paternally) great-great-great-grandmother, Victoria of the United Kingdom. Her other names honour her great-aunt Ingrid of Denmark; her maternal grandmother, the Brazilian Alice Sommerlath (née de Toledo); and her ancestorDésirée Clary, the queen-consort of Charles XIV John and a former fiancée of Napoleon I of France.

She began attending school at Västerled Parish Pre-school from 1982-84. In the fall of 1984, she began to attend Smedslättsskolan in Bromma, where she completed her junior level. She completed her intermediate level at Ålstenskolan in Bromma and went on to pursue senior studies, following a Science and Social Studies programme, at Enskilda Gymnasiet upper secondary school in Stockholm. She graduated from upper secondary school in June 1996. She spent that summer gaining knowledge of foreign languages by taking trips to the US and Germany. During the 1996-97 academic year, The Crown Princess studied French at the Centre International D'Études Françaises at the Université Catholique de L'Ouest in Angers, France. In 1997-1998, she followed a specially designed programme in order to gain a general insight into the workings of the Riksdag (the Swedish Parliament) and the Swedish Government and began academic studies in Political Science and History at Yale University in the USA in the spring of 1998.

She has tried to keep her private life-boyfriends and a battle with Anorexia- away from the public eye. Because of this, we are only aware of two confirmed boyfriends. The first was in the mid-1990s to 2001, Daniel Collert. The second was her now-husband, Daniel Westling in 2002. As for her eating disorder, she began suffering from Anorexia around 1996, and was confirmed in 1997. She moved to the United States in early 1998 to study at Yale University and receive professional help for her disorder away from the media.

Her engagement to Daniel Westling was approved and announced by the Swedish Courts on 24 February 2009. She married Daniel Westling, who became Prince Daniel, Duke of Västergötland on 19 June 2010. On 17 August 2011, it was announced that she and Prince Daniel were expecting their first child in March of 2012. The new baby girl was born 23 February 2012 at 4:26am, local time. The new princess of Sweden's name and duchary was announced on 24 February 2012 by her grandfather: Her Royal Highness Princess Estelle Silvia Ewa Mary of Sweden, Duchess of Östergötland. She was probably named after Count Folke Bernadotte's American born wife Estelle Romaine Manville, both of her grandmothers (2nd and 3rd names), and her godmother,Crown Princess Mary of Denmark.

She has twelve godchildren, including four future monarchs. Many of which served as bridesmaids or pageboys at her wedding in June 2010. These children include:
  1. Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway, daughter of the Crown Prince and Crown Princess of Norway.
  2. Prince Christian of Denmark, son of the Crown Prince and Crown Princess of Denmark.
  3. Princess Catharina-Amalia of the Netherlands, daughter of the Prince of Orange and Princess Maxima of the Netherlands.
  4. Princess Eléonore of Belgium, daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Brabant.
  5. Prince Constantine-Alexios of Greece and Denmark, son of the Crown Prince and Crown Princess of Greece.
  6. Leopold Sommerlath, son of Victoria's cousin Patrick Sommerlath and Camilla Lundén.
  7. Diana Engsäll, daughter of Victoria's friends Andrea Brodin Engsäll and Niclas Engsäll.
  8. Ian Persson, son of Karl-Johan and Leonie Persson.
  9. Baroness Madeleine von Dincklage, daughter of Victoria's cousin Baroness Sybilla Ambler von Dincklage and Baron Cornelius von Dincklage.
  10. Vivien Sommerlath, daughter of Victoria's uncle Jörg Sommerlath and Simone Sommerlath.
  11. Giulia Sommerlath, daughter of her cousin Thomas Sommerlath and Susanne Sommerlath.
  12. Isabella Chloé Nilsson, daughter of one of her closest friends Caroline Kreuger Nilsson and Jesper Nilsson.
