Infanta Cristina Federica de Borbon y Grecia, Duchess of Palma de Mallorca was born 13 June 1965 as the second child of King Juan Carlos I & Queen Sofia {Source}. She has one older sister and one younger brother{Source}:

• Infanta Elena, Duchess of Lugo (1963)
• Prince Felipe of Asturias (1968)

• Infante Alfonso de Borbón, Duke of Cádiz (paternal 1st cousin 1x removed through Alfonso XIII of Spain)

She attended schools in Spain, the United States, and interned in France{Source}. She attended Santa María del Camino College in Spain, graduating in 1984{Source}. From 1985-1989, she attended  Complutense University of Madrid, where she earned a degree in political science {Source}. From 1990-1991, she studied for a master's degree in International Relations at the University of New York {Source}. In 1991, she moved to Paris to intern at hte UNESCO{Source}.

Over the years, she has participated in numerous institutional, cultural, academic and social interest, both in Spain and abroad, especially in the European and Latin American field{Source}. She is honorary president of the Spanish National Commission of the UNESCO{Source}. In October 2001, she was appointed as the UN Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations to the Second World Assemby on Ageing {Source}. She is a trustee of the Dalí Foundation{Source}. She works as a director of the Social Area of La Caixa Foundation{Source}.

She married Don Inaki Urdangarin on October 4, 1997, in Barcelona Cathedral Basilica, where her father gave her the titel Duchess of Palma de Mallorca for life {Source}. Together, they have four children {Source}:

She is an avid sportswoman, and enjoys skiing and sailing. In Spain, she has taken part of many national and international competitions for sailing{Source}. Mostly notably, she participated as a member of the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games as part of Spain's sailing team{Source}.
