Royal Profile:Prince Nikolaos of Greece and Denmark

Prince Nikolaos of Greece and Denmark was born on 1 October 1969, the second son and third child of King Constantine II & Queen Anne-Marie {Source}. He has an older brother and sister as well as a younger brother and sister {Source}.

He was educated in England, The USA. Similar to his siblings, he was educated at home before the opening of the Hellenic College of London {Source}. He then earned an A-Level in Spainish at Collingham Tutorial College before moving to New York in 1987 {Source}. Before returning to his education, Prince Nikolas spent some time working as a market research post with a leading telecommunications company, Metromedia{Source}. He began his studies at Brown University in 1988 {Source}. He took a brief sabatical from his studies in 1990 to undertake a short course at Sandhurst before serving in the British Army in Germany as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards and taking part in the major military exercise 'Medicine Man' {Source}. After his stint in the British Army, he returned to Brown to finish his studies {Source}. He received a B.A in International Relations from Brown University in 1993 {Source}.

After graduating, he worked as a TV Production Assistant for Fox News in NYC for two years {Source}. In 1995, he returned to London to work for NatWest Markets, before working for his dad's private office {Source}.

Like his siblings, he is a member of the Board for the Anna-Maria Foundation {Source}.

At the 2000 Sydney Olympics, he was among the royals at the Slip Inn, which included his 1st cousins Fredrik and Joachim, and Princess Märtha Louise {Source}


He was engaged to Tatiana Blatnik in December 2009 after several years of dating {Source}. They were married on 25 August 2010 in Greece {Source}.


Prince Nikolas is directly related to the Spanish, Greek, and Danish Royal families, but also has connections to most of modern Europe's monarchies.

  • Denmark: Queen Margarethe II is his maternal aunt, which makes her children (Joachim & Fredrik) his first cousins
  • Greek: His father's family. His father has two sisters, one of who is the Queen of Spain.
  • Spain: Queen Sofia is his paternal aunt, which makes her children (Felipe, Elena & Cristina) his 1st cousins
  • Sweden: His maternal grandmother was Ingrid of Sweden, who was the aunt of King Carl XVI, making Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Carl Philip & Princess Madeleine his second cousins.
