Alexander Johannsmann was born 6 December 1977 as the son of show jumper Heinrich-Wilheim Johannsmann {Source}.

Nor much is known about his childhood and upbringing. He married Princess Nathalie of Sayn-Wittenstein-Berleburg in a civil ceremony on 28 May 2010  {Source}. Their first child was born two months later on 24 July 2010  {Source}. It was announced in August 2014 that the couple is expecting baby #2 in February 2014 {Source}.

He resides in Germany with his wife and son, where he and his wife run their own stud farm.
