Marie Marguerite, The Duchess of Anjou was born as  María Margarita Vargas Santaella  on 21 October 1983 as the daughter of Víctor José Vargas Irausquín and Carmen Leonor Santaella Tellería {Source}. She had two siblings:
  1. María Victoria Vargas Santaella d'Agostino Casado
  2. Víctor José Vargas Santaella (1980-1999)
She studied at the Colegio Merici de las Madres Ursulinas. After gaining her high school diploma, she began studying pedagogy at the Universidad Metropolitana de Caracas. 

She married Louis Alphonse, The Duke of Anjou civilly on 5 November 2004, and religiously on 6 November 2004{Source}. Together, they have the following children{Source}:
