Royal Profile: Alexandra, Countess of Frederiksburg

Alexandra, Countess of Frederiksburg was born 30 June 1964 as the first daughter of Richard Manley and Christa Manley {Source}.

She grew up in Hong Kong, and attended to her early education there.  She was educated at the following institutions:

  1. Quarry Bay Junior School (1969-1971)
  2. Glenealy Junior School (1971-1974) 
  3. Island School (1974-1982)
Upon graduating the Island School in 1982, she began studying international business at several different universities, including institutions in Austria, Japan, and England. It is unknown whether or not she actually ever obtained a degree.

In the early to mid-1990s, she was employed by GT Management Asia, where she worked in Sales and Marketing and as a deputy chief executive of the Sales and Marketing Department. 

She met her future first husband, Prince Joachim of Denmark during a party in Hong Kong, when he was working for a Danish shipping company. While holidaying in the Philippines, Prince Jochiam proposed, which was made official in May 1995. On 18 November 1995, they were married. Together, they have two sons{Source}:

  1. Prince Nikolai William Alexander Frederik of Denmark (1999)
  2. Prince Felix Henrik Valdemar Christian of Denmark (2002)
In mid-2004, rumors were beginning to stir that the end of her marriage was near. By mid-September 2004, it was officially announced they would separate with intentions of divorcing. Their divorce was finalized in April 2005. 

In mid-2004, rumors began to spark again, when photos surfaced of her with Martin Jørgensen. They were married two years later, on 3 March 2007{Source}. In September 2005, it was reported they were to be divorced {Source}


During her time as a Princess of Denmark, she was wildly popular, wildly known for her fashion sense and charity work. She speaks several languages-English, German, and she picked up Danish very quickly. She also speaks some Catonese.

During and after her princely marriage, she was involved with several organizations.  She was active with the Children's Red Cross, The Danish Society for the Blind, UNICEF and a single mother's advocy group, Mother Help. She was a UNICEF Ambassador when she visited Thailand to visit HIV/AIDS patients. In 2007, she joined the Danish board of directors of Ferring Pharmaceuticals {Source}
